Tig welding 1/4” stainless steal rod to 1/16” flat stainless steal.? Answered
I keep blowing holes through the 1/16” stainless when trying weld a 1/4” rod to it. I/m using a Eastwood Tig 200 welder with 16” tungsten and I’ve tried everything from 40amps to 125amps. I’m also using 308L 1/16” filler rod. Would it help if I change the filler rod to .045 and run at lower amps? If I run at Lower amps using the 1/16” filler rod, it just beads up and doesn’t flow.
