Time for a free boat! Answered

Times are tough. People don't have the money that they used to. Some of those people own boats.

According to the New York Times, boat-owning Americans are abandoning their boats in droves by sanding off the names and serial numbers and setting them afloat.

Do you know what this means? It's ripe time to get yourself a free boat like Tim Anderson did some years ago in much more prosperous time.

I see what you mean: even when it does work (I tried OOR in the place of or) it either keeps the caps or capitalizes the first letter anyways. One would have to reign back the settings a bit to allow searched for small words and CAPS.

Yep, my kids got their AR boating permits last year. Right now, I don't have to have a permit, but If they tighten up regulations any, I'll have to let them drive the boat. BUt that's ok, as it gives me more time to fish!

I'm on the Little Red, and it's full of trout. But the Red is having flood problems right now, isn't it?

Sometimes a drought makes for easy fishin'. If they're in the mood to feed, and they have less area to do it in, it's like shooting fi.... It's easy.

Haha, in the little creek behind our house, when it starts drying up, the fish will bite a bare hook. I've caught some nice cats with my uber secret doughball recipe... I had been going for the carp, but they were not biting.

That's sweet. My kids usually fish for cats about 4 times a week in spring and summer.

Gah, I need to get mine for FL... Right now I can only pilot up to a 16' rig (which is fine since my grandfather's boat is 16'), but still... 35 would be nice.

In the UK, if you find lost property and hand it in to the police station, it becomes legally yours if nobody claims it within 30 days. #1 son became ten pounds richer like that.

If they instigated a similar system for "found" boats (you tow or sail it away to your own mooring, but report the fact to the authorities, along with any information you can find (like the HIN)), then after a suitable waiting period (say four months, since boat use is very seasonal), the boat becomes legally yours, and the authorities issue you you with a bill of salvage instead of a bill of sale, allowing you to legitimately register and use the boat.
