On the one hand, I love seeing examples of amazing technology in action. On the other hand, I'm sick of people taking my ideas before I'm paid to design things. (I think that's how being an engineer works.)

It's like when you're convinced you invented something new, but you can't afford anteriority search and patent registration, and, few years later, you discover that someone else is making a lot of money with the same invention.
If you don't have a great sense of humor, you're doomed. =o)

As soon as possible of course ...

Maybe the robots would conclude that fighting is illogical, and would refuse to do so? That would be good.

Given that Uncle-Sam is currently trying to make military planes piloted by brains of rats, I doubt there will be any reasoned thoughts involved in the first robot-fighter prototypes .......... Few years ago, one of the main limitations was the batteries life and the miniaturization of the parts. Todays limitation is the AI controlling those robots : most of those robots are simple automatons and improved "sumo bot" ... Once they'll be equipped with a more serious and autonomous AI (or with an interfaced biological brain), then, we will have good reasons to be afraid ... And I bet that interfaced biological brains will come before any serious AI program ...

They already are... I predict a real-life Skynet (no, not that random one on Engadget) in the year 2030.

Cool, but what will all those human assistance dogs do, now that robots will be putting them out of work ? :-)

Wait, that robot looks suspiciously like the Anne-droid in Thursday nights "Dr . Who" episode *hmm*

Anne-droid

Funny pun =o)
I never understood why we all call female robots "android", though.
Andro is supposed to mean "man" in Greek.
So, a female robot should be something like "Gynoid" =o)

I hope the first robot that will be able to play electric guitar will not be called EMO-droid ............ =o]

Very cool! Although I do wish they could also focus on maintaining the quality of their vehicles :/
