Unable to upload certain file types to Instructables Answered

Hello,

Just working oncreating  my first instructable using Windows 7 and internet Explorer 9. I can upload pictures ( .jpg) and also .pdf documents.
I don't seem to be able to upload anything else. For example I can't upload a Windows document .doc or docx file, a PICAXE .bas file or a DipTrace .dch file. Why is this?

Thank you

The uploader actually does upload all of your files. Because of the way it handles the database in your image library, it seems to reassign some random character string name to your file. The trick is to know to rename the file when you download it back again. It only keeps a few recognized filetypes intact. Maybe zip your files up if things are totally wonky.

hey thanks for the reply. I don't see any extra files with random characters. I only saw one for the .doc file when I uploaded it and it seemed to corrupt the file. The .bas file for example just never shows up in the library. I'll try your suggestion of zipping them, that may be the answer.
