Upgrade gearing on a elderly-person scooter? Answered

Hi guys,
I recently a scooter for free on the side of the road. It is one of those sit down grandparent's motorized chair.

Since I am have no other use for it, I am planning on making some bada55 scooter from he11. It is electric, and made by a company called "guardian". Oh, and it still works, I'm just not sure of the battery life.

Has anyone ever messed around with one before?
Any help would be appreciated!

Whereas you may be able to get the machine to go faster I doubt it will be stable and your battery lift will approach zero very quickly.

Most of these machines are run from a geared motor, usually a worm gear - It will be impossible to change this so you will have to re design the entire drive mechanism.

Good luck

IF it works - why not be a good Samaritan and find someone who needs such a machine and give it to them?

You could increase the battery voltage, but you'd have to be careful not to fry the motors.
