It's not Instructables, it may be a file hosted by a third party on instructables, but that still doesn't incriminate instructables it's your problem for trusting that download.
Get a Mac.

What is linux ?
Reply 11 years ago
You don't wanna know, I once got it in years gone by, the things it did to my computer. . . O_O
Reply 11 years ago
O_o I dare say, the things you did to your computer with Linux. I have installed it, dual boot and it works fine, and I have a fairly older version of it too.
Reply 11 years ago
Dual boot ?.......0_o means you can switch to linux and windows right ?.....
Reply 11 years ago
Kind of, yeah, it means I can BOOT to either Linus or Windows. What you describe sounds more like the shell that is available that allows Linux to run inside of windows.

ok.

it is a free operating system. I have tried it, and its solid. Very stable and fast.
Reply 11 years ago
Ok, ill ask the pc guys>......if they could install it on my old computer...
Reply 11 years ago
You can do it yourself, for the price of a blank cd/dvd. . .

Hmm, and I heard this:

A Trojan horse, or trojan for short, is a term used to describe malware that appears, to the user, to perform a desirable function but, in fact, facilitates unauthorized access to the user's computer system.
Vista fits that description perfectly.
Reply 11 years ago
vista is an acronym for "Viruses Intruders Spyware Trojans Adware"
Reply 11 years ago
I had a button that was made to this same effect, when Windows 3.1 came out LOL

Own3d.
Reply 11 years ago
That looks photoshopped at the top where it says windows has been detected. Are you serious or joking?
Reply 11 years ago
It is definitely a joke. Especially where it shows that it found Windows Vista was a Trojan :-)
Reply 11 years ago
Lol, and also the template and control bars are XP style anyway ;)
Reply 11 years ago
Well, I can tell you all it was NOT photoshopped..... psst, is was gimped ;-)
Reply 11 years ago
Wake up and smell the coffee.
Reply 11 years ago

Reply 11 years ago
An NEC computer would not be my first choice in a computer.
Horrible PC World plasticky trash with poor component selection
Reply 11 years ago
Don't assume that it's the same NEC you might be able to buy (could be better?)

I wouldn't ask these "guys" for help again. They convinced you that a replacement PC was the best fix for a virus? Maybe they know you're loaded and think you've got more money than sense? L
Reply 11 years ago
It doesn't even sound like a virus, sounds like his Anti-Virus crashed. Either way, he got took, didn't know there were BestBuys in Fiji ;-)
Reply 11 years ago
What ever it was, the given explanation was a virus contracted from here...
L
Reply 11 years ago
Yes, and so ludicrous I dismissed it out of hand.
Reply 11 years ago
How should i know if it's a virus or not ?........They took the computer and said to me that they would load i new windows system on it and bring it back.
Reply 11 years ago
I'm a bit cynical: they've got your machine and all the data on it. Is there anything commercially sensitive / personal on there that you (as a wealthy businessman) might not want people snooping around?
I say that computer guys who know what they're doing will find it easier to bring the Windows disc to you to load a new windows system, than cart the entire PC away. They can do that fix on the machine where it is?

Quite right too. "Do you know much about computer viruses?" - "What do you use it for, e-mail, internet - what sites have you been visiting recently?" - "Instructables? Ah well that's it - nasty virus that one. Sorry mate it's broken, ruined, can't be mended." L
Reply 11 years ago
Not much, but i think i know the basics..... Recently many , but when the thing happened , the only task bar that was open was instructables.....
Reply 11 years ago
Yeah whatever the pc guys said.....i'll call them up and ask them to repair my computer and pay me my delay fees....i mean discount .....
Reply 11 years ago
I don't know what the hell happened.....
Reply 11 years ago
No, by new replacement i mean , they took it for repair and i got a new computer for myself... When the old one is repaired ill put it in the office....
Now I want to beat up the guys who said this. Take me to them. Really. It's morally reprehensible that they are in IT.
Did you open up a file that some stranger had posted here earlier?
Reply 11 years ago
So wait...you replaced an entire computer because you got a virus?
Reply 11 years ago
Why are you asking me this question? I never got a virus.
Reply 11 years ago
Sorry, this wasn't directed at you. Dunno how my comment ended up as a reply to you, but was supposed to go on the main thread.
