That looks like a transmitter during welding, best if you got more photos of it.

My best guess is, that is a "hand held ultrasonic welder"

https://duckduckgo.com/?q=hand+held+ultrasonic+wel...

I have never seen one, or used one, in real life. I think it is used for welding plastics.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultrasonic_horn

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultrasonic_welding

And maybe for other applications. About 6 months ago, Downunder35m posted some anecdotes about his experiments using an ultrasonic transducer to cause solder adhere to otherwise un-solderable materials, like glass and aluminum.

Also, I agree with Gregwest77. You should try to find a nameplate, or whatever scribbles or hieroglyphics this thing has on it, because, you know, that might lead to some clues as to who made this artifact, and for what purpose.

Wow! Just a handful of components, and one of them is a vacuum tube.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vacuum_tube

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_vacuum_tubes

Sometimes a paper copy of a circuit diagram is taped, or glued, to the inside of the cover, or some other place where a person repairing the appliance could easily find it.

Although, you probably would have noticed that, if it were present.

I guess if we want a circuit diagram for this, then you, or someone, would have to examine it closely, mapping out which wire goes where.

Regarding the vacuum tube. Those all had unique part numbers, kind of like ICs (integrated circuits) today. (Hopefully that number is printed on the tube somewhere. ) You know, if you wanted to use one, or discover which pin does what, you had to look it up in a book, or find a data sheet for it.

Probably all, or most, of the data for those old tubes, is online somewhere now. Although many, probably most, vacuum tubes are no longer manufactured.

Have you tried taking the cover off, and looking inside the case? For some kinds of equipment, that is where the manufacturer actually puts the documentation.
