WHY DOES MY COMPUTER CONTINUE TO GO TO "CHECKING FILE SYSTEM ON C?"? Answered

i'm having multiple issues with my PC but this is the main one.  I also forgot my PW so i'm trying to start up in SAFE MODE  by using f8 but when i boot up my system starts "checking file system on C;"  when i get through that and  reboot with F8, i select Safe Mode and the PC gets stuck.  it does nothing.  i waited for over an hour and nothing happened.  i had to disconnect the CPU to reboot.

Even if you reboot in safemode I don't think you can change your password.

If it won't reboot in safe mode then several things might be wrong.

You might have a card that is not seating right and needs to be reseated.  Remove and reseat all cards.

You might memory the needs to be reseated.

You might have a cable that needs to be reseated.

Any of the components may be going out.

Before you replace anything, reload windows and see if that fixes things up.

What? Surely you mean you pulled the power lead out of the PSU to reboot?
Have you successfully booted into safe-mode? I ask because you say "when i get through that and reboot with F8".
When did this start, did something happen, is this an old machine?
