I think the Chicken came first. I am a Christian and I believe in God. God made all animals. Therefore the Chicken came first.

So in a nutshell (or an eggshell, if you like), two birds that weren't really chickens created a chicken egg, and hence, we have an answer: The egg came first, and then it hatched a chicken.

The Egg came first unless you are a creationist. Think about it a moment. Technically the first human came from an Ape?

The chickens were some fish? Naruto says they were a fish. Sakura is saying they evolved into chickens which then laid the egg. So I guess it's the chicken 😅

The chicken came first. An egg can't survive without a chicken, but a chicken can survive without an egg.

Well that's not strictly true. Some eggs can survive without the chicken. Think of birds that lay eggs in other birds nests like the cuckoo. Then you also have birds that lay their eggs in decaying compost to keep them warm until they hatch. So i say we are back to square one.

But chickens are neither of these birds. They lay in their own eggs

Well, the egg wouldn't be there without a chicken to produce it.

Your argument was that an egg couldn't survive without a chicken. I gave two examples where it can, regardless of who laid it.

Between the egg and the chicken? I believe the chicken laid the eggs - so the chicken came first😊

the chicken came before the chicken egg, but the egg in general came first.

I think it was the chicken who came first because who laid the egg if not a chicken???

A genetic mutation in the ancestor of the modern chicken caused them to lay an egg with slightly altered DNA that then becomes a chicken.

So you're correct.

The egg came first for me too, imagine that before a chicken was a chicken, it came from a different entire specie and only by producing an egg or a baby, their genes can be pass on to next generation of their specie and time after time evolved to what we call a chicken nowadays.

Seeing that all birds evalved from dinosores and dinosorse all hatched the only correct anser has to be the egg came first.

Geniuses of Reddit, what came first; the chicken or the egg? The first chicken, genetically, as we understand it, was born of something that was almost but not quite a chicken. The first chicken, therefore, was born from an egg laid by an almost but not quite chicken.

Many eggs produce many different things with wings. Or no wings. Egg is so much more primal that it’s not really a question.

The egg has many different children, the chicken only has one. My conclusion - the egg is first.

This is indeed a most pressing issue.
Have you consulted any chickens on the subject yet?

What came first? The egg or the platypus?
