What is the best way to photograph lightning storms using an EOS400D SLR? Answered

I want to get some good lightning shots but cant seem to get camera setting right?

Using any camera, what you want is a long exposure -- minutes, if necessary -- to get a sufficient number of strikes that some of them are visible in the frame. It's essentially the same as shooting fireworks; some digital cameras have a mode specifically to help with that and it would be worth trying for this too. I presume you've looked at the two Instructables on this topic...

Thanks for your help I have just found the guides, They didnt show up yesterday when I searched?

As orksecurity says... Read the related instructables (that you would find if you searched lightning)... Take long exposures (at least 10 seconds), 'average' exposure, infinity focused, ISO/fstop will need some adjustment to get the settings just right.
