I found this metal detecting on an 1800’s Farm site. The fine tips are split as though it would hold thread maybe?????

Thank you for the thought! I’m not sure that you received my reply....new user of the site:). It is made of hard metal and it’s spring-like with the tips made of two fine hard steel needle like points. Made me think it may have been used for sewing????

Just got this message now.
Things rust funny, rolled steel can rust stringy.
Now that I see the key hole I wonder if it might be a lock spring.

Looks like it could have been a scribe.

I believe it to be an old heating g element for an example, an electric fry pan.
