What is vinyl? Answered

I've been seeing "vinyl" in some Instructables I've seen. Most of them had to do with sewing.
Is Vinyl a cloth or something?

In that context: Probably plastic-coated fabric. Variants of this are used for raincoats, tablecloths, and other waterproof fabrics. The plastic itself may, or may not by vinyl.

Vinyl is flexible plasticized PVC.  In a sewing context it's usually PVC with a fabric backing.  This question has been asked, and sort of answered, in this forum before:

https://www.instructables.com/answers/Gluing-PVC-sheet-Can-you-identify-this-glue/

BTW, if you want an answer that's even more context specific, like specific to those "some Instructables" you've seen, you could ask this question on the comment page for that specific instructable, or PM that instructable's author.

That is to say, you could ask the author, "What is this "vinyl" material you are using?  Where did you find it?"

From what I've heard, it is like a combination of plastic and material, that can be shrunkenn when heated. Sign making companies use it a lot, so you can get many scraps there. It is used a lot for wall decor. Hope I could help!
