Yeah, although my trolling friend got into my account and posted stupid stuff, I agree with him on this one.

When I camp, I usually take a sniper rifle and a Grenade Launcher, and plenty of grenades.

A tent, sleeping bags, lawn chairs, battery powered string lights, a cooler full of food to cook over the fire, a cast iron skillet, a griddle, and good beer or whiskey. :)

My mom always made the best breakfasts when we went camping when I was little.

Maybe I should bring my mom along and ask her to cook breakfast for me. Although being the smart little lady she is, I might be the one cooking for her. :)

Are you a "beer man", wine or something more stronger to wet our whistles?

Toilet paper.

A map and compass, a flashlight, a survival knife. If you did a terrain analysis before you went camping then you might not need a map. If you know how to navigate from land features and the stars or sun then you might not need the compass. If you let your eyes adjust to the dark then you might not need the flashlight. If you keep a level head, then you might not need a survival knife.

Yeah, toilet paper.

If you ask my better half...
Large frame tent with "proper bedrooms"
Doormat.
Inflatable mattress (double depth).
Electric lamps.
Cooker/stove, toaster, kettle.
Flushing portable loo.
Electric hook up on site or she won't go.
List of local hotels.

Me.
Tent (optional depending on location season & weather)
Spare tent pegs, they can be quite handy even if you don't have a tent.
A decent sleeping bag.
A good knife.
Two torches, one good powerful one for outside & one small bright one for in the tent if you have one.
Waterproof matches and or firesteel.
Plenty of paracord.
Light weight waterproof sheeting/large emergency blanket (mylar)
Basic first aid kit.
A good book or two.
Sketch pad & pencils.
Mobile phone, only for use in the case of emergency otherwise NOT TO BE TURNED ON :-)

Fist time camping without the family, all I took was a large plastic bag ("bivvy bag") to cover my sleeping bag.

Waking up with frost in my hair didn't seem to affect me back then, nearly 30 years ago.

I remember being in a camping competion one weekend in late October early November in the mid 1970's, myself & a few dozen other Scouts woke up to find our tents had snow drifts up their sides :-)
We all thought it was great fun & got on with having a great weekend.
I'm not too sure I would fancy it so much now, I know for a fact that the only way I could get my better half to spend a winter weekend away under canvas would be if the canvas was the canopy on a four poster bed in a VERY expensive hotel.

Thank you Nostalgic. Like the list of local hotels. You never know when you need to hide from Bigfoot. :)

Meh, if it's got wheels it's really camping, is it?
