What's the most important thing you've learned while practicing your craft? Answered

Think over the years you've spent learning and practicing whatever it is you build, make or do.

Now try to separate the most important thing that you've learned over that period of time, the one thing that stands out over everything else.

Once you have that thing, please post it in the comments for other people to learn from.

Once a concept has a "proof of viability", the most important thing remaining is "the details". Without them, withoujt the nuts and bolts basic knowledge, one will reverse poles on diodes, LEDs, transistors, etc. and not know the project doesn't work (or why it is smoking like that),

I've learned the importance of play. Play is very important to the creative process and if you find yourself beset by creative constipation, I recommend the book Free Play: Improvisation in Life and Art by Stephen Nachmanovitch

We used this book in film school to draw out some of our best ideas.
