Which program, application, or site is the best site for music making and mixes (I know it's opinion based)?
I've recently taken an interest in producing my own music to supplement my YouTube account.
I'm very interested in creating techno, club, jpop mixes, hardstyle, and light dub step. I want to make music I can shuffle to. I also want to branch out in to other genres of synthetic music, including classical-inspired music. I want to be able to rip, warp, distort, and modify music clips. I'd like to be able to separate aspects of a song (vocal from instrumental) but I don't think free programs offer that feature.
I thought I would use the previous paragraph to get past the usual "what are you using it for?" question. Which program, application, website, etc. is your favorite for making music and mixes?

Audacity is a free audio editor... it's the only free program that I know of that is anything close to what you are looking for. Avid Pro Tools is another audio editor... it focuses mostly on audio... not instruments. Sibelius is probably the best notation software, Avid music is great for loops, and it's fairly cheap, Finale is also decent... I happen to know one of the top ten composers in the US... the only digital music program he uses is finale. Finale has a $10 version called Finale notepad, it's great when you are just starting out. Just make sure you have a 1/8in to 1/8in cable... notepad doesn't let you export to Mp3... you have to upgrade for that.
I've never used Garage Band... I happen to hate macs, but I know some people like it.

I realized that I made a typo... I meant to say that Acid is music is great for loops. I believe that Avid makes sibelius... Sorry, I realize that could be confusing! :)
