Which tools are a must have as a rookie? Answered

I want to start building some furniture to start a workshop and to storage stuff in my own room. What did you found really useful at the beginning?

If your seriously thinking of making alot of furniture and of good quality I would say most of the things I list are must haves but not all and there will be more that I miss out.

Power tool: table saw, band saw, jig saw, circular saw or plunge saw, drill and impact driver, bench drill/pillar drill, trim router/router table, biscuit jointer, if you plan to mill your own timber then a thickness planer is a must

Hand tools: hand saws, good measuring/marking tools, various clamps, hammer/mallet, hand planes, chisels, centre punch, screw drivers, socket set (for if you plan on using larger fasteners for the things you make)

Sure there is plenty I have missed out n but that should be more than enough to get you going, sure you will find plenty good deals in the January sales also so a good time to be buying a few bits and Bob's.

hi,
i got a Kreg hidden screw set. they make nice wood working tools.
thats for a drill yea. you need a 6-12inch chopsaw. like a Delta(used).
you might want to consider sand paper, stains, and such finishing-touches; when you have build an item or re-finish stuff.
but starting out dont be too focused on the advanced projects that involve joinery and jigs. work on stuff then: fix it, switch it, or ditch it.
