Anyone who thinks Flea is the bassist, stfu. He is not more than above average. I bet the ones who finding him good do not know a lot of other bands.

I think that the best bassist is Brian O'Connell, from the Pakistani rock band Junoon.

Note all the different replies and that the bottom line its personal, the best out of those mentioned is JP. Bare in mind I am an old fogey ha ha. However I much prefer music to noise...

While I like Primus, that Tom Araya can sing (and scream) while playing bass, I'm inclined to go there. But Flea is pretty good, maybe Flea...

Victor Wooten, Emma Anzai (of sick puppies) or bucket head also know as Death Cube K. i would say those are the best three in my opinion. 3 different styles as well.

. He was never on my radar. Violent Femmes was too punk for my taste.

. I really enjoyed his first (eponymous) album and listened to a lot of Weather Report (I have YouTube playing Portrait Of Tracy in the background), but I just couldn't get into most of his solo work. Don't get me wrong, it was good stuff , just hard for me to wrap my head around. . Thanks for reminding me. YouTube has some good stuff.
