This is one of the most profound quotes I've ever read. I'd love to know who the author is.

You may be right, but it's slightly amusing that your own citation shows "citation needed" for that attribution :-)

lol... I noticed that too, and I believe the reason is due to misinformation about the quote circulating on the internet that gave credit to someone else.
