Why are instructables made before the beginning of contest not eligible for entry? Answered

I was just wondering why instructables made prior to a contest can't be entered. I have several instructables that I wish to enter, but this rule prohibits me from doing so. Is there a way to re-publish an instructable in order to enter it? I was wondering if a staff member or someone else knew the answer to this question, as I have the feeling that more people wish this rule was not in place. Thanks for any feedback.

No problem, we both have the same understanding of infinite entries clog.

Thank you all for the great answers! I have some ideas on how I can fix up and make a couple new instructables now. When I "recreate" an old instructable, do I have to do so in a new instructable to enter it in a contest, or can I just edit it?

If you're really serious about just entering contests then you should hold off publishing new content until it matches 2 or 3 contests and then release it. If your guide is something highly topical or not really suited to be a contest contender then it can be published whenever.

As mpilchfamily says, the idea is to encourage creativity. If you are interested in entering contests in general, keep an eye on this forum topic:

If you "need" to enter an old instructable into a contest, you need to recreate the instructable - make it again, with new images, and include a significant degree of improvement in the project (maybe your pictures were rough the first time around, or you have improved the method or materials you used).

The idea is to encourage new and interesting instructables.

Never thought of the Revision Before; good Idea!

If you want to do this for a Contest I'd sugest new Pictures ! and would also help if you included what you learned from the First time around.
