Why does my internet go down once or twice a day?
My internet goes down once or twice a day and it doesn't come back on until I do a power reset of the wireless router (unplug and plug back in). While this is not really a big problem, it gets kind of annoying. My computer is connected via ethernet. The router is a Linksys WRT54GS.

router overheating ? modem makes momentary dropouts or errors yjat the router cant recover from ? or loses connection and wants the other device to ask for new ip all the time ? (if you connect 1 pc directly to the modem without router it disconnects too ?)

The internet doesn't go out that often. Only once or twice a day at most. Overheating might be a problem, though. Sometimes it gets really hot. It would be really hard to test with only one computer, because it doesn't disconnect very frequently. Any way you know of to stop overheating?

stand it vertical on its side open the box and run the thing without box (be carefull to not let it touch conductive stuff)

The WRT54G is a reliable router - make sure it has the most recent firmware:

I'm guessing its a problem with your isp/modem wiring. Check that, perhaps power cycle the modem instead of the router.

The little-pixies inside the router are either striking or being lazy. Speak to their union-rep or sack the lot of them and replace them with cheap foreign pixies... L
