Wifi Connection Problem-can see all available networks-but simply can't connect to my home network now-worked til yes'da Answered

I was using my home wifi connection(wap2 secured) to connect to internet through my laptop till last day, then it stopped all of a sudden. I can see all available networks in the range including my home network but simply can't connect. After the password is typed for the home network, it will try to connect but can't connect. The only message i get is that "your computer can't connect to any of the prefered networks".My operating system is XP S3.What shall I do to get connected?

Sounds like the Wi-Fi in the laptop may be bad. The question is do you have any other Wi-Fi devices having trouble connecting? If other can connect then it's the laptop's card. Which means you'll need to get a Wi-FI adapter.

No.All other Wi-Fi devices are connecting fine.My laptop is almost ten years old.But this is the first time that I am using my laptop to connect to internet through wifi(all these years i was using direct cable connection). It worked fine for one week till day before yesterday.

Sounds like the WiFi in the laptop is dead. Time to plug back in or get a USB Wi-Fi Adapter.

Most laptops allow you to turn OFF the wifi, sometimes with a simple function key stroke so it can be done accedently. Check your wifi is ON.
