Won't stay logged in or disable the email popup Answered

I have an account to instructables, but whenever I visit, I get the super annoying email popup. Those are bad enough, but I would think if the site would keep me logged in, it wouldn't pop up since you already have my email address. However, it doesn't seem like the site is any good at keeping me logged in.

Please, if I'm missing something, let me know - or fix it so that it'll recognize me and stop popping up the email beg window. It's getting to the point where I actually consider how much I want to click on a link if I see your URL. I'd hate to stop visiting an otherwise interesting site because you're so desperate to get the email.

Don't think so. Have been through this enough times and this is the only site where this is a recurring problem. Have cleared cache and cookies and all that stuff several times and plenty of other sites manage to keep my logins just fine, so it's not the browser. Also, no provision for a "remember me" in this login page:

I use Chrome & Firefox, and they both ask me if I want it to save the log-in details of any site the first time I type in a username/password combination.

Is your image cropped, or are you using a phone? If you're on a phone, have you tried the app instead?

Wait - you're talking about having the browser save your username and password, and that's a bunch different than a "remember me" button provided by the website. Saving a username/password still requires manually clicking "Log in" and submitting the form. Having a website remember that I'm already a user and keep me logged in between sessions is a matter of a couple cookies with auth info.

That screenshot is from logging into the site on Chrome on a laptop, not the mobile app. It's been cropped as the rest of the window wasn't pertinent.

Having the browser save a username and password isn't exactly secure (use a password manager instead) and either way, it's completely different than having a site remember a login between visits, which is the nature of my problem. I use lastpass and can log in via that, but before I realize I'm not logged in, (because it doesn't maintain my login) I get the super-annoying OH PLEASE WE'RE SO GREAT CAN WE HAVE YOUR EMAIL? pop up which blocks my view of the site.

Most sites that do that, I close the tab and move on. There's actual good content in Instructables.com that I look at pretty frequently, but constantly throwing a pop-up in my face is making me re-evaluate coming. I posted this as a last-ditch effort to find out how to make the site usable before I stop coming altogether.

So, this isn't actually a bug report, but a feature request? You want the development team to add a remember me button to save you logging in when you visit?

You need to move this to "feedback", or drop an email to service@instructables.com and ask very nicely.

That's a browser settings issue - most likely, at some point, you ticked a box that told your browser never to remember your log-in details, or not to log in automatically.
