computer help please Answered

ok, i was trying to help someone on a different forum with their computer problem. heres the post: "My sister bought a new computer. Its a monster of a computer.. Some HP with 8GB RAM 64bit Vista o.o It didnt have a TV-card, so she bought one and put it in herself. Shes been playing some online game, I dont know which one but whatever. After the game loaded a new patch, she got an error message. Some CCCC.exe errored.. She found out that CCCC-thing was part of a driver of her grafic card. Whenever she tried shutting down the computer now, it would take about 5 minutes, than the 5 seconds she used to have before. And the problem got worse every day. The computer is running really slow. For example hitting the Windows button, it will take her about 3 minutes till it even shows the Windows-menu. She tried downloading a new driver for the grafic card. But after hours of searching she couldnt find the one for her card. So she took an older version of it. But yet.. it wont work. Should she just back-up the whole computer and install Windows new again?" anyone know what to do? all credit will go to the poster upon request.

if you re format it and install the proper driver the proper way, it should work fine

Oop, i just check google. I googled cccc.exe error and it came up with what looked like descriptions for a trojan. Tell her to check her system processes and see if there is a cccc.exe and end it. It will either crash the computer or stop a virus for now. If it does crash just rebooting will start that process again I do believe.

Tell her to get a copy of ComboFix here and have it do a thorough clean of her system.

It's one of the most reliable trojan / virus busters out there, and does not try to sell you anything.

Weird. That's a strange problem. Normally I would say that the graphics card couldn't support it but then why would it make her computer slow? My computer takes about ten minutes to shutdown but thats just because its a piece of crap but once its up it works like a breeze. Does she have any virus problems? Maybe one sneaked into the patch. I don't know but if she has tried to run some anti-virus/spyware programs that are up to date and they haven't found anything she may have to make a backup and start new.
