If you are just wanting a general idea of what it out there and whether you can afford it for your project, I'd go to www.mcmaster.com (McMaster-Carr). They carry a wide range of plastic products. Their site also contains basic properties of the different plastics (tesile properties, temp ratings, etc).

I've ordered small quantities of plastic materials from them on several occasions and have been satisfied with the results.
