can someone help? Answered

hi all, today i got a apple macintosh powerbook 190. (yes, the original greyscale) from what i've read online, its ram can be upgraded, and i want to know if someone can help guide me through installing a different os? (maybe puppy linux, dsl, ubuntu, win98) anything other than mac. it has a 500mb hdd, and i dont know about ram. the question is: can anyone help?

For all practical purposes, you'll probably want to keep MacOS on it.

Windows 98: non-starter, as would be any MS Windows version. A Motorola 68040 CPU is not Intel-compatible.

Linux: technically possible, but you'd need a pretty old version. Debian dropped official m68k support with Debian 4.0, which was released a few years back. There was an unofficial build of Debian 4.0 mentioned at Reference 2 below. I don't think there's ever been a DSL or Ubuntu version for m68k. And probably not Puppy, either.
