Can't edit videos made in old style video publisher Answered

tried everything on 2 computers. win 7, win 8.1, chrome 42.0.2311.90 m, and IE 11.0.96...

I tried to edit a video made in the old video editor (https://www.instructables.com/edit/new?type=video) and it just shows a blank page.  I tried copying the edit code out of the url and putting in the new version and I get a message saying I need to use the old editor (which doesn't work)

I'd include an image but that doesn't seem to work either...  disabled ad blocker, still doesn't work.... in chrome Version 42.0.2311.90 m

Also, I have a video thats listed as a draft that I can't get rid of (because it was made with the old video editor, can't edit so I can't delete it.

if the old video editor doesn't work anymore thats fine just convert my 1 video to a step by step and I'll never use it again.

Looking forward to getting this stuff working :)

Thank you for your time,

It seems old photo instructables can't be edited either. I have two and they both just show a blank page when I try to edit them.

Seems like they removed the old editor around the same time they updated the you-menu, as i just used it a few days before, but now it isn't available anymore, not even with normal instructables.

After looking some into it i realized that only the client-side doesn't support video editing.

Long story short, I just wrote you something so that you can edit the contents of a video 'ible:

First you need to open the Javascript Console on your browser while viewing your video 'ible. In most browsers this works wither with the f12 key or with rightclick -> inspect element and then going to the console tab.

Next, copypaste all of the following in there: http://pastebin.com/3MMHP2DL

You will need to adapt the first two lines to fit your instruction, so the title and the body. The body is formatted in HTML, so links are like <a href="blahblahblah"></a> and stuff.

The editing are the VIDEOTITLE = and BODY = lines.

If you use quotes be sure to escape them with a backslash, so that " becomes \" and ' becomes \'

When I say edit video, what I mean specifically is click edit on an instructable that has been uploaded in order to do things like add text to the description, change the thumb nail, etc. Your site does support this. it supported it 3 days ago. I'm not sure why it doesn't work now. Please address this. If It cannot be address then find me a way to delete these videos that I uploaded using the old video upload system (as deleting videos can only be done after you click edit which does not currently work.

again by edit I am referring to making any changes to an instructable

Please escalate this as I would like my pro account to work correctly. Thank you

Ah, sorry, I misunderstood - I thought you meant editing the actual video.

There has just been a site update. Sometimes some people have problems after such an event, which are cured by clearing your browser's cache and doing a "hard reload" of the page.

I erased all my browsing data, cashed files, etc. closed all pages and reopened them, still doesn't work. Also, I opened a new computer that has never accessed this site, still doesn't work.

Have you tried accessing these pages?

Hmm, I'm out of ideas, then.

I can see both the "new" videos, but trying to access the old car instructable comes up as "we couldn't find that one", so I guess somebody has deleted it.

how do I escalate this topic? is there someone who has the ability to edit my account and delete/change instructables that I dont have access to (as it sounds like the instructables site does not work correctly at this time)?

should I start posting my questions on several different forums within this site? what is the process i should follow here? what would you recommend I do next?

so it looks like someone went in and deleted my draft video which is good. that solves one issue. :) 2 to go!

I still want to go in and change the thumbnail of my other video instructable. any way to do that? (How to use the 3doodler (3d printing pen)) can I send you the thumbnail and have you add it for me? or can someone delete this video and then I can re upload it? what do you recommend?

Also, Is there any way to get the views and favorites transfored from the deleted instructable to the new one (same content)?

The development team watch the bugs forums, but if you want to speed things up, drop an email to service@instructables.com (use the email account you used to create your instructables account) and include all the information you've included here.

To put an old video into a new project, just go back to the original video (on YouTube, Vimeo etc) and get the embed code again.

This site doesn't support video editing, you'll have to download the "old" video, edit it into the "new" video, and re-upload the whole thing.
