This question comes up a lot here...

If you haven't played with video editing before... you could try Avidemux as it's Win7 friendly, open-source and simple to use... but also has heaps of additional tools (you can use MPEG-4 AVC (x264) for friendly uploads to YouTube)... of course with Win7 you don't have Windows Movie Maker preinstalled (Microsoft suggests to download Windows Live Essentials, which includes Windows Live Movie Maker (WLMM) for Windows 7 but you can also download the old Movie Maker 2.6 which seems to work too)... and there is lots you can make it do (however, I feel a little constricted by it's limitations)... and I'm not sure how YouTube friendly it is... Hope you find something that you like... whatever the video editing software you use I'm sure you'll be able to quickly master it... re: YouTube uploading Picasa will enable you to upload your videos to YouTube with very little effort...

I third wlmm. Never tried avidemux, but I can attest that wlmm can quickly rerender files to different resolutions, add titles, cut scenes etc. NOT good for frame-by-frame lining up of audio to multiple video files. Their idea of a timeline is a joke, but if you just want barebones attaching clips together and adding sound, wlmm :)

Movie maker live is somewhat temperamental. It tend to throw errors if you trying to render a video of any real length. You can get the old version of movimaker here

It will work with win 7

Windows comes installed with Windows Movie Maker, which is capable of exporting videos which can then be uploaded to youtube. For free options on PC, that's about all you're going to get legally.
