Lol. This is about the funniest answer forum post I've seen. So vague of a question. So much ironically specific advice. I like the bit about the dog tag and the physically transporting an item. Well played answer people.
It's not as vague as you think. This query is tagged with the word, "dog". Heh. It's not just any tag. It's the "dog" tag.
I wonder what the invention is. Maybe its a contrivance made for use in identifying unknown dogs. Like maybe a sturdy piece of metal or plastic, but with information encoded into it somehow. But what would be a good name for something like that?
I think it is an iflatable dog wash system for all those dogs that love to get dirty before getting back in the car ;) Or some spiked shoes for walking on ice? A robot to walk your dog when you are to lazy? No I got it: A self inflating life vest so you can take our dog fishing in the boat!
It was kind of a tiring workup, but I think it was worth it. Thanks for the feedback. I also would have accepted, *facepalm*, or any reply, or no reply.
You can use a backpack or put it in the boot of your car. A taxi might be an option too and for rural areas maybe a horse and wagon? ;) If you don't mean the transport side of things look at places like Kickstarter.

Google "how to market a new idea"

That's way to vague for any real help and this really isn't the place to get the best answers for this sort of question anyways.
Biggest Factors:
Is your invention novel, useful, or any good?
Who will be buying the final product?
Where do you live?
How much help (and what kind) do you need and how much experience do you have?
There are thousands of other factors but you'll need to answer those just to get pointed in the right direction.
