or something more personal?

Rick, yes these questions are getting worse. It's probably due to publicity "trawling-in" keyboard-mashers.

I.e. more people find this as an answers-site, so you get more people punching questions into it expecting the "machine" to read their mind and give them what they should be doing.

My mate's helmet went mouldy - too damp and neglected I think.

Wash with warm water and gentle (un-perfumed) soap and pat dry.

I think there might be a few double meanings in there. But with such a nebulous question its a little hard to find the correct solar system. They have a lot of helmets in Dr Who, for all we know this was asked by a cyberman.

I'm pleased that you got the double-entendre, it's a bit British though, or is it?

Knowing absolutely nothing about this helmet, including if its for combat, a model or an ancient bronze age artifact, about the most fitting advice I could give is to go swimming in it, or possible with it. A little sun and some chlorinated water might do both it and you wonders.

If its really sweaty and smelly, you could use warm water, dish soap and vinegar to clean the inside and outside. The dish soap gets rid of the dirt and oils, and the vinegar neutralizes the odors. Then just rinse and dry.

Soapy water generally.
