just start throwing vegetable matter in there (banana peels, veggies, coffee grounds, egg shells etc.) Just don't put meat, fish, or oil. Then you need to add things from outside like leaves and grass clippings. then make sure to mix it up every so often. I'm sure there's plenty instructables as you can see in the related topics to the right.
