You can buy waxed paper you know in most cook shops.

* 1

You will need 6 ounces of alum, 1 ounce of grated castile soap, 1 quart of water and 3 ¾ ounces of beeswax. Alum can be found in a grocery store spice aisle. Beeswax can be found online and at health food stores.
* 2

Place 1 quart of water in a pot on the stove over a medium heat. Add 6 ounces of alum and 1 ounce of castile soap.
* 3

Bring the mixture to a boil. Stir continuously to dissolve the alum and castile soap.
* 4

Add 3 ¾ ounces of beeswax and melt it into the boiling water. Continue to stir continuously.
* 5

Once the beeswax has melted in, remove the pot from the heat.
* 6

Pour the solution into a pan or container large enough to fit the paper you want to make waterproof.
* 7

One sheet at a time, place the paper into the solution. Use tongs because this mixture will be hot. Handle carefully.
* 8

Remove the paper immediately after it has been submerged, do not leave it in the solution to soak. Place it on wax paper to dry.

"hydrophobic: a dreaded fear of any bodie of water"

i cant imagin why you would want to make paper afraid of water, but if you want to make a vase out of paper, or anything really out of paper, wateproof, get yourself some polystyrene, and by weight, add 1 10th part polystyrene to either acetone, gasoline or methylated spirits.

this will make an extremely weak laquor, which will easily soak into paper, and harden to have a final strength equal to that of a plastic milk bottle!, and will be very waterproof, i use this to waterproof my smoke bombs and fuses so i can let them off underwater, and i tell you, it works.

the addition of a dense oily substance like wax, will make it more pleasant to touch, and will feel like normal smooth plastic even more. wax will dissolve in gasoline, but only a little bit, say maybe 1 5th of how much polystyrene you added, or else it will feel waxy

traditionally, I think you oil it. Not sure how you keep ink from running though or what oil you would use.
