how to wire an amp from the rear speakers of my car? Answered

i have an oem navigation cd/dvd radio head unit in my 05 Dodge Magnum that I just installed and I want to wire in an amplifier and run a 12" or 2 10" Subs with the existing system. I was fortunate enough to grab the ear of a tech that works at the local Dodge Jeep dealership and asked him what I needed to do and he said that at the dealership they tap off the rear speakers a piece of equipment that they can then hook up an amp to. Does anyone know what piece of equipment he was talking about?

Duuuuuude, turn it up to 11 and and "give it an extra push over the cliff". Thanks Spinal Tap!

My first was a ground breaking 8 wpc when everyone else was running 2-3 wpc. Heck, 20+ years ago, they were installing 0.5f (one-half, don't cross the streams, farad) capacitors to keep the headlights on..

Some amps have high level. or "speaker" input.
Then there is the option of a level shifter, basically an array of resistors to match the input of the amp.
Both methods are not really good in terms of sound quality.
