instructables Show and Tell Answered

I am new to the instructables site, but have found something that is really upsetting me. The site puts itself forward as an instruction site, with instruction videos. I have spent hours and hours looking at different things in here, and find that aprox 90% of the entries are just 'show' sites for peoples' work. Now, I can't deny that many of the entries are very nice, pretty, what ever, but that wasn't what I thought I would be seeing.

Are you looking at the actual instructables or only the videos/slideshows? There are very few instructables that just show off a person's work. But the new features, like videos and slideshows, are intended to showcase a person's work or cover a concept briefly. That might be the majority of what you're seeing. :)

Thank you so much for your information. I was looking in the crafts etc. area, and i am sure many of them were for the lion-bran yarn contest. I was hoping to find some help with a pattern and was getting so discouraged with the format.

Yep, we have tons of slideshows now! I would recommend using the tabs like westfw said, or just searching more specifically. It's a bit of a mess right now. :)

The new "slide show" and "video" categories are more likely to be as you say: more show than tell (and the recent lion-brand yarn contest was explicitly a "show" contest, and attracted a lot of show-ers.) Click on the "Instructables" tab near the top of the Explore page and you should see some better examples of the "instructional" genre.
