is there any way to download a massive number of files easily? Answered

I need to download over 500 files. I've tried using URL2FILE but I cannot use the original file name without typing it out, which defeats the purpose. I need to download each file with the original file name without needing to rename them. The URL's are numbered (Eg. http://www.example.org/100 ) so I can output them to a .txt file in a matter of seconds if needed.

Thanks in advance.

You can use DownThemAll! in Firefox.

Write a simple html page with a list of the links in a text editor. Open the page in your browser and select DownThemAll!. It will open a window where you can select the files, Enter *name*.*ext* in the renaming mask box. That will make it keep the original file names. Tell it a folder to save them to and hit download.

It will open a window where you can watch the process. If you are getting a lot of errors, you may need to reduce the number of files that are downloaded simultaneously. Some servers allow more connections than others. I think the default is something like 3 but you can set it from 1 to 10. You can change the setting while it is downloading and it will just continue on with the new setting.

Thank you so so much, it works fine except I need to add the right tags to every single link by hand since batch won't let me type > or < into it without echoing that right away. Is there any way to echo those characters in batch? I've wondered that for a long time before this, too.
