maker freecycle? Answered

would anybody be interested in joining a gorup dedicated to helping you find the tools or parts your looking for, free, donated to you by someone whose done with it? it might be too much to ask you to part with your stuff, we all have our attachments to out junk, but if your not doing anything with it, maybe someone else can. And you never know; maybe they will create the trends of the future with your blender... i will create one if there are some possitive responses...

. Sounds like a good concept. I'm not going to give my tools away, but I might let someone come by the house and use them. Or trade a tool I seldom use for something I need. The only big problem I can see is establishing trust when money or valuables have to change hands long-distance - this idea may work better at a local or regional level. . You could use the same group to introduce mentors and mentees. . I'd be willing to donate a few hours to the cause.

awesome, so far so good. i'm going to wait until tomorrow to do this, but if anybody has any other suggestions as to what the group can include, or other groups, i'll take the time to create them.

. Don't be in such a hurry! A project such as this deserves careful consideration. Try to find someone who has done something similar and can point out some of the pitfalls to avoid. If you just throw something together after one day, I can almost guarantee failure.

Most of the stuff I have to give away is of the "too heavy and awkward to ship, but if you live near me you can probably get your own anywhere anyway" variety.

its at the discretion of the trading parties. if you live in Cali and want my old erector set, i'd probably suggest shipping (paid for by the recipients) since i live in New Jersey. same goes for overseas. if you live in the same area and travel would be faster and more cost effective, i would say go with that. essentially, im trying to build an online junk yard aimed for people on this site, considering we have the "common interests" thing going on...
