microsoft's 235 patents ... Answered

Microsoft claims the opensource community (mainly Linux) violates up to 235 of their patents. Though, as Microsoft don't provide any list of these patents, some says it's just a campaign of fear and destabilization ... Do you know some examples of Microsoft's patents that are actually violated by Linux ?

I do know that something very similar to sudo was patented, but long after it has been in use, so we shouldn't have to worry there... Other than that, its all made up.

Microsoft can't do anything to linux users. There are enough distros and programmers that even if they do they will never be able to kill us off. The box said Vista OR BETTER, so I installed LINUX!

My point is not to open a flame war. I'm actually curious about what patents are concerned. Also, in the European Union, we don't have software patents ... so, Linux would remain totally legal here.

As the saying goes, use the right tool for the job: Linux for servers, Palm for mobility, Mac OS for graphics, and Windows for solitaire...

If you don't mind rebooting after every third game of solitaire.... ;-) Vista was a bit of a joke, and the upgrades promise, I have heard, will never come about now.....*shakes head*
