You didn't explain very well WHAT you like to buy.  I suspect you like to buy PREMADE tech items such as ipods, videogames, and other gadgets.  Here's what I did when i was young and had no money.  I read magazines and books in the library for FREE telling me how to build my own gadgets!  In the 5th grade i built a crystal radio.  By the 7th grade i built a Tesla coil.  In high school I built a brainwave monitor from Popular Electronics magazine.  Nowadays, there is so much electronic stuff thrown in the TRASH that you have access to a free goldmine of scrap junk.  Here  is a CHALLENGE for you.  See if you can take apart a JUNK radio or tape player  or answering-machine...  and build something out of it.  You should be able to build an OSCILLATOR or an AMPLIFIER, or something.  Look through INSTRUCTABLES for ideas.

You will have more fun learning, designing, and building your OWN electronics gadgets than buying an expensive gadget !  In the process, you might end up WORKING in the electronics industry and making BIG BUCKS.   There are STILL jobs in electronics... just not so many TV repairmen anymore.  Solar Electric and Wind power is starting up.. jobs will always be needed in electric power equipment.

Safety warning:  Do not take apart any items that are dangerous.  Microwave ovens and televisions have VERY hazardous voltages even when UNPLUGGED so don't mess with them.  Always ask for permission from your parents before taking anything apart.

great ideas and thank you but i have found the powers of arduino. i have done so much since i posted this question. i got the arduino projects pack but i dont really have a workshop except my small desk in my room. but the best i have done is build a device that outputs all of the accelerometer, joystick and button outputs on a wii nunchuck. it is surprisingly easy or maybe its just me but i used the arduino, nunchuck, a 16x2 lcd and 4 pushbuttons i love it, it is my baby mainly cuz i did it.

Make friends with the guy at the local tv repair or appliance repair.  I used to get free stuff just for sweeping out.

Seconded - if you're not old enough for a real career/job - make work for yourself by doing services people are willing to pay for.  Really makes you appreciate the tech you end up buying :D
