power point help! please read? Answered

Hey  everyone I come to you for help! I appreciate you reading and all your efforts. For college I have a class that requires me to make and present a power point. Now I have never made a power point and am kinda confused on how to go about building it. I have a topic in mind, I plan on using this website as the focus of my powerpint. I think instructables is a great site and a great topic for my powerpoint. How do I go about building it? what do I need to cover? Im new to powerpoints and have no idea what or how to do (it) so can anyone give me even the basics building blocks for a powerpoint? basicaly how do I turn instructables, as my topic, into a power point? Thank you for reading!

i think you should do an instructable on making a power point instructable, i think the resulting presentation would be interesting.

This is what I do:

1. Don't try to put everything on the page - People wat to hear you explain not read from the screen.

2. I make a few notes first - mainly just headings for the different parts of the subject

3. then transfer these to the power point slides as headings - Then I go back and search fro suitable illustrations, and give each illustration a sub title so I remember what I am going to say at that point.

4. Go through the presentation several times so you get familiar with what it coming up.

I recently did a presentation for the Dam Busters raid ww 2.

The headings were:

Title "DAM BUSTERS " - dramatic
Introduce the dams and talk about why the dams were important.
Introduce the players - Guy Gibson, Barnes Wallace, 617 squadron, Lancaster bomber.
The problem with attacking a dam - Under water nets etc.
The bouncing bomb
Problems with flying at 60 feet, - solution (spot lights)
The raid
The results
Role of honour

A bit about soldiers in battle generally.

End suitable heroic image.

Totally. The power point is just a support for what your going to say NOT a replacement.

It's just a slide-show.

Each slide should have one or two images and some explanatory text. Don't get carried away with lots of writing per slide, use a clear font.

As to the content, start with a brief run-down of what the site is for, and a bit of history (see the How To Start a Business project by Ewilhelm, and the video on the About page).

Then describe how to use the site; how to write an instructable, how to use the forums.

Then mention some of your favourite projects, and some classics, like LED throwies, how to kiss, and how to make play-do.
