remote detection persons? Answered

Hello everybody, I live in a very remote area and am looking for a radio guided detection to see/hear when somebody enters my property.
Distance from one place to the other minimum 700 meters. I have power but no telephone connecion, nor internet or mobile sources.
A simple PIR detector that indicates that somebody (burglars, robbers) enters my private territory. will do; I am desperate after three burglaries. I look forward to any suggestions.  Thank you! Chaource

Assuming you have power then PIR base flood light are plentiful. with a reasonable range - about 20 feet depending on how you set them up.

examples from amazon

Thank you very much. However I have plenty of these lamps but the range is far and far to short; need 700 meters and that I cannot find. Kind Regards, Chaource

I am not sure where you are but here in the UK you can buy the PIR unit separately and run a leads to the flood light.

I see no reason for your not being able to mod the lamps you have with a simple relay to switch on other lamps that extend the range. Assuming that the 700 yards is the distance away from the house you want the detection to be..

You don't need to have a longer range just put the lights further away and add more closer triggered by the same detector. You can also add an alarm to the same relay to give an audible warning.

Here the police suggest the best burglar deterrent is a BIG dog.

Thank you very much Rick, It is in France, and there is a road crossing my territory, so any wiring is out of the question; it really must be wireless. The distance is more than 700yards; it is about 765 yards. Actually simply said I need a wireless PIR detector or alike with a range of 765 yards. A dog is no option for me and he cannot be around all the (3) constructions at the same time as they are situated to far apart. Kind Regards, Chaource

I have a wireless alarm system around my house BUT it isn't good for 700+ meters - I don;t know of any that are - I suggest this may be a job fro a professional alarm company as your requirements appear very specialised.

Thank you Rick, You are quite right; and I have contacted many professionals but all solutions are with internet connections, phone or GSM. Need just a clever guy who knows how to make it myself. So far not succeeded :-( And I am sure this must be possible. Have a nice day! Chaource

The standard is motion detection camera's. Trouble is they record everything including deer that wander by.

I still have cheap long range wireless networking radioes that could easily be used to link up a set of networked cameras. But they need power to run.

You have 2 kinds of security, passive and active. Passive records activity and documents everything but does not do anything to stop anyone.  Followup and cooperation by the authorities is required to get results.

Active security is things like a fence and warning signs and dogs that patrol. Active systems require that you play a confrontational role. Passive depends on you providing information to authorities for them to do what they are paid to do.

One thing not to do is set booby traps that can cause harm, That can get you into big trouble as even an innocent person wandering by can get hurt,

Thank you or your answer Vyger. I am interested in your wireless network radio as long as I can use it as a switch. I am just looking for prevention like a lamp that switches on when somebody enters the territory just to warn me, that's all. Like the wireless PIR detectors that are available in many shops but the range is far too short. I have more or less permanent power: 220 Volts. I would like to have a detector on 3-5 different spots. I just do not want fences, angy dogs and certainly nothing aggressive, just a little prevention will do. After all I am living quite peacefully there and I would like to keep it that way :-) I am looking forward to your advice. Thank you. Chaource

Good remote detection of an intruder? Fence in the area and get a couple of big dogs. Then post allot of Beware of Dog signs, private property signs, and signs indication your love for guns, using guns, and ability to easily hide bodies of trespassers. If you really want to deter intruders then make it an electric fence.
