rubber bands wont always fly off of rubber band gun, need help? Answered

I'm trying to make a simple rubber band gun but the rubber band im using dosent allways come off, it usually flings forward then back not leaving the allen rench I'm using. i need  some advice on getting the rubber band to leave every time. ( the nail in the pic is just there so i could take the picture, cant pull the rubber band back at the same time and get a good one) nails on the side are to hold the rubber bands when not in use.

First you need to hammer the allen wrench COMPLETELY IN. Personally I wouldn't put the nail in, but if you insist then make it stick out as little as possible. Another thing that should help is using a nut and rubber band instead of what your using for ammo. To make that ammo all you have to do is take a rubber band, stick one end in until both sides have even amounts of rubber band then stick one end into the other (doesn't matter which end) and pull until it is secure. If that doesn't work or make sense send me a message. I hope this helps solve your problem.

The allen wrench seems to be mounted too high. I'd suggest either lowering it so that it's flush with the top of the gun, or replacing it entirely with a finishing nail driven into the front of the gun. Also, the forward-facing end of it can be much shorter. Both of these things will help the rubber bands to release much more reliably.
