No, to switch the device, turn on the LED on pin 1 and 2.
Its just like any LED, it needs a current limiting resistor.
Pin 5 is an OUTPUT !

Part of the output circuit. The datasheet clearly shows how it should be wired.

Look at the circuits that Iceng posted !!! Pin 4 IS used as part of the output in DC cases. Its linked to pin 6.

You have the battery in the wrong way round for the device. Pin 6 should be connected to the positive supply. Pin 4 should connect to pin 6, and pin 5 to the motor, and the motor to the battery -ve terminal.

WHOA. Add a nice big diode across the motor ! Put the band end aWAY from the battery.

You need to understand MOSFETS have Intrinsic Parallel Diodes

But even though they are as fast as the MOSFET, I would put a pair
of 1N4006 in parallel in the AC/DC configuration which is half the
current of the plain DC configuration where both fets are in parallel.
