terrible overview about instructables' comments Answered

Hi there,

is it possible to sort comments? I see comments in nearly random sort, but want to see the newest first.  Any forum at this planet will do the job, why not instructables.com?

thanks in advance
Thomas

The Forums are sorted by newest first.

When you click through to a sub-section (like Marketplace, for example) you may notice the top one or two topics look out of sorts (today, it shows a thread with the last comment made over a year ago), this is an artifact from our system picking up a potential spam posting. The topic gets bumped up to the top as if a new comment was made, but it might take us a little while to review it and decide if it's spam or to publish it.

The easy workaround if you want to follow up on current topics is to just hit Forum (view all) and see all the recent comments left. This should only show recently replied topics and not the ones that are awaiting moderation.

hi mikeasaurus,

thanks for your fast reply. I know, in many forums some topics are old but at 1st position because of importance.
pls check https://www.instructables.com/id/Frameless-Laser-Harp/?ALLSTEPS
the comments are still not in order and there seems to be no button for sorting. Or is it a bug by ie10?
Thanks
Thomas

BrittLiv is correct. When viewing an Instructable's comments or a Forum thread, there are 'featured' replies that are placed up top. These are usually important comments that are given top seating so they don't get buried under other comments.

That happens because the comments were featured. An author or and admin can decide that a comment is especially good/helpful and give it a feature flag. Featured comments are always shown before other comments.
