triac switchero Answered

I have a touch light switch I bought from my local lighting store the triac and heat sink stands too tall for the base of the light ,I want to desolder the original and replace it with a new one with longer leads so I can lay it down to fit inside the base. How do I know if my new triac is compatable they look like they are the same size numbers are different.

Hi....i always try to see if Numbers on Device(s) can be first found in

Electronic Parts Data Base Web Sites.....try these...

http://www.alldatasheet.com/

http://www.datasheetcatalog.com/

http://www.datasheetarchive.com/

http://www.datasheetpro.com/

....if not try again, but omitting prefix-alpha's......just use digits only....

.....then see if it is listed in supplier catalogs, so that replacement parts could be

obtained, later.....and any special insights can be had...

One thing about Triacs is if Metal Tab is / is not connected to middle Pin...

It matters because your Heatsink would be electrically one side of the Power-Line , if it were !

Anyway....hope this helps.....

Cheers
