If you mean "pixel", the word is adapted from "picture element", and refers to one of the dots of color that make up a digital image. Hence its use to measure both camera resolution and image size.

If you meant "picaxe" (perhaps more likely given the second half of your question), that's one particular family of microprocessor chips. I believe the term that you're looking for is "PICAXE" which is a specific kind of microcontorller, usually programmed with the BASIC programming language.
