# what will happen if i give dc 12v and 5 ampere to 2000watt inverter , how much ac ampere should it produce ?? Answered

i now what inverter does it convert dc to ac , i also know that it can convert dc 12 volt to ac 120 -110 volt but  the thing from which i m confused with is that what will happen to the ampere for example i have a 12 volt 5 ampere battery if i plugged the battery to 2000 watt inverter should it produce 2000 ac watt with just 12 volt and 5 ampere battery or i have to give more dc ampere to the inverter................ means can inverter    convert dc less volt to ac high volt  and  with also convert dc less ampere to ac high ampere   or will it convert  dc low volt to ac high volt without changing the dc low ampere and need more dc ampere or will it convert dc low volt to ac high volt with decreasing the dc ampere....

A 12V 5A battery can deliver a maximum of 12 x 5 = 60 Watts.

If your inverter is a good one 85% efficient and works at all, it will deliver 115VAC

Current = ( Watt / 115v ) x o.85 = 60/115 = o.52A x o.85 = o.44 AC Amperes

I hate that, I wrote:

Not much since you are putting 60 watts into a 2000 watt circuit.

If you think about it might not even have the power to run the circuit at 80% efficiency.

Ahaa well, it happens several times a year with newbies.

Have a nice week Josehf.

I wouldn't pay \$800 for a survival class.

The first time I took a load down to Laredo Texas and had to go down for the weekend, a pain in the backside. So I went up north to Encino Texas north of the checkpoint to spend the weekend. Every time I went down there I spent the entire weekend eating cactus and walking in the desert and explaining to the border patrol I'm not an illegal.

It was wonderful.

Maybe you could have them send you back home North, on their ticket :)

I never went South of Las Vegas. My only memory was delivering a large keno display of my manufacture, standing and protecting it in the back of a truck. It the ambient street temperature was so Very Hot that I had to keep turning a different cheek to face the Hot Wind burning my face !

I had a load customs messed up the paperwork So I couldn't deliver it and I couldn't take it back to Canada ether it sat on the truck for a week until the paperwork cleared.
