what's a good substitute for Altoid cans? Answered

I live in France and Altoids or really expensive. When I prepare for a camping trip, I always check out the survival Instructables and the main need is Altoid cans. What can I use instead?

I used to use Altoids tins to put small fishing lures and other tackle in to keep them from rattling around in my tackle box, but they had tendency to rust after a short duration.
Looking around in a dollar store one day, I noticed some two piece, plastic soap dishes, two for a dollar. I bought 20 of them. That was six or seven years ago and I've not had a single problem with them.
The ones I got are similar to the pic but are semi-transparent which makes it easy to identify the contents without labels.

You can buy them empty.

Try here.

Or google "hinged metal tin".

Those are EXPENSIVE! $20 per case? No matter how expensive altoids are in France, I'm sure that they aren't nearly as expensive as that!

Any small tin will do, hinged or not. What matters more is the contents.

Nice answer Burf. I never though about those. Nice price also.
