whats a practical use for dead earphones? Answered

Hi Everyone

i was wondering if anyone has any ideas what i could do with multiple pairs of broken earphones and ear buds. most no longer work in one ear,etc, is there a practical and safe use for them?

Those stereo plugs make great 3 or 4 wire connectors for home wiring projects (eg sensors for arduino).

Chances are the wire has broken somewhere along the line. Typically this happens near where the wire enters the speaker or comes out of the plug. Most often its at the plug.

thanks for that, i guessed that there was wire-damage due to the fact sometimes the cord gets knotted and that would bend/damage the wires

You could probably fix a few of them by re-soldering the wires.
Each will have a pair of magnets and a bit of wire you can salvage.
