Methane is the posh name for "natural gas" - in the UK, it's piped to most homes for heat and cooking. For any other chemicals, you're either going to have to name them, or google for suppliers yourself.

I was about to ask what GMTA means, imagining something like "Google makes the answers" (as in GIYF or JFGI), then.. I FGI and saw it meant "great minds think alike". Internet generation, anyone?

Acronym Definition
BIST Bristol Islamic Schools Trust (Bristol, UK)
Programming is rich with them... I personally think it's a shame the industry moved to acronyms and initialisms away from the older portmanteau style (I'm going to fix the automagic transponder on the modem in the UNIVAC at MiniTrue)
If it's TLIs you want, I don't think I know of a better field than networking. I was asked a question (admittedly a terse one) about networking that involved more initialisms than words- something like "how does TCP/IP NAT SYN UDP?"

In the USA BiST normally refers to Built In Self Test, when referring to IC's (and of course, EF = Epic Failure LOL).

If you've actually got a copy of the journal article you're in a better position than us to answer the questions. We'd do better if you could give us some more information.
