The wire harness may be the same but wired vary differently. Need to find the wireing diagram for each. Chances are they are not available.

Strongly reccomend auto electrician or main dealer to sort it out.

Ok here is the lowdown...my Lancer is a 2012, I bought a HD factory radio that came from a 2015 Lancer. All of the factory plugs go into the radio (super easy), the radio works fine but my dashboard lights up like a Christmas Tree flashing all sorts of thing and the car will NOT start.

However, everything is fine when I put my factory radio back in.

Please advise.

It is pretty simple and stupid at the same time.
Mitsubishi wires all sorts of dash connections through the radio and if not matched correctly nothing really works.
To make things worse they don't even stick to the normal color coding, so on the new radio white might be dash lights where on the old it was for an electrical antenna.
The only real chance to sort the meass is by getting the pinout for both radios and to use an adapter plug to match the wiring (or wire directly if you don't care).

Without more information to hand this totally beats me.

Electricity in, on the right pins, Audio out hopefully to the speakers.

What is happening and what isn't. Father Christmas totally forgot the crystal ball

Would be too easy and obvious to just ask your dealer, wouldn't it? ;)
