I'd think it's neither. It's not really a knex anymore since you can't build build anything with it, and it's been modified to bypass Nerf's ridiculous safety standards, so it's a nerf(like) weapon.

I would consider it time to learn to make real things and put away toys meant for children.

I would choose a knex gun cause they are a lot more powerful and and look a lot cooler than nerf guns.
